Bhubaneswar Design Week (BDW) marks the evolution of the much-celebrated Odisha Design Week,
returning with a renewed vision to position Bhubaneswar as a thriving epicentre of creativity,
innovation, and cultural dialogue. Tentatively scheduled for 7–11 February 2026, BDW aims to bring
together designers, thinkers, makers, educators, and citizens in a collaborative celebration of design
that is rooted in regional identity while aligned with global aspirations.
At this stage, the primary theme, sub-themes, venues, and final dates are yet to be announced,
as these will emerge through meaningful dialogue with key stakeholders — including academic institutions,
industry leaders, co-organisers, and potential sponsors. The goal is to ensure that every element of the
festival resonates with both local relevance and international perspective — from craft to UX, mining to
manufacturing, architecture & urban design, heritage to AI.
A defining visual element of this edition is the Lion icon integrated into the BDW branding.
Inspired by the majestic lion sculptures of Odisha’s temples and royal gateways, this contemporary,
geometric interpretation reflects strength, creativity, and clarity of vision. It bridges tradition and modernity,
echoing the ethos of “Make in India” while envisioning Bhubaneswar as a design-led city of the future.

Professor Paresh Choudhury is an internationally renowned Designer from Odisha who has
immense working experience in the industries of design, branding, media, communication
and user experience. He has also served as senior academician and head in premium design
schools like National Institute of Design (NID), MIT Institute of Design (MIT ID), Symbiosis
Institute of Design (SID) and Coventry University UK Collaborated DSK International Campus
at Pune.
Prof. Choudhury has been an eminent voice on the impact of design on social and climate
change. His contribution to the cause of the Odia script and project, Design Against Cyclone
in Odisha (DACO), have received wide recognition. He has also presented a paper for the
same at Pratt Institute, New York. He has been invited to many international design events
across the world like ATPY -Amsterdam, DPP- Chicago, DesignEd- Hong Kong and TypoDay at
Moratuwa University, Colombo to name a few.
His passion for design and desire to make Odisha a design hub has culminated in him
founding the Odisha Design Council (ODC), to promote education, research, development
and sustainable solutions through design thinking.
